MOYO / About Us

Two places.
One connection.

What began in Ansbach is today a personal collaboration with people in the Mulanje region. Here is how it became MOYO.

Our Beginnings

An encounter became an association.

In 2013, a group of young people from Ansbach helped out after the flood in Magdeburg. The experience showed how much a city community can accomplish. Personal connections to Mulanje then gave the idea a direction.

Dr. Stefan Schwarz had worked at the Mulanje Mission Hospital; Dr. Martin Schwarz was born in Mulanje. Together with friends and family, they founded MOYO e.V. – Ansbach für Malawi in 2014.

What began as a group in Ansbach is now an association whose members live all across Germany and beyond. Ansbach is where it started, but the door is open wherever you are.

How we work

Listen. Work together. Stay committed.

Our focus areas are education, health, and sustainable livelihoods. We support projects that are shaped together with people on the ground and can have a long-term impact.

The association is run entirely by volunteers. Donations are passed on in full to the projects in Malawi; expenses for the association’s work are covered separately by supporters.

What matters to us

Our approach, day to day.

01

Staying honest

We also talk about difficulties and learn from what doesn’t go as planned.

02

Working openly

Anyone who supports MOYO should be able to see what we stand for and how funds are used.

03

Thinking long term

We look for solutions that are ecologically and economically viable and strengthen local capacities.

04

Connecting people

We want to make exchange between Ansbach and Mulanje possible – with curiosity, respect, and personal relationships.

People

The people behind MOYO.

MOYO runs entirely on volunteers. These are the people who give their time, their contacts and their knowledge.
